Help me save Toby! He's a generic brown dog, just a mutt. I wish that he was purebred, since that would make it easier to find him a new home. His owner wants to put him down. She's granted Toby a stay of execution while I find him a new home.
Toby's a rescue dog. The shelter that had him when he was a pup had a hard time placing him. I don't know how rough Toby's early days were but he ended up being a problem child. He's aggressive. He'd lay down his life for his people. I don't doubt that he'd fight a bear to protect us, to the death if necessary. I can't imagine him ever harming his people. I've snatched his toys, his bones and his food from him and never even heard him growl. But new people need to be introduced to him before they're accepted.
Toby gets a little shuteye

The introduction ritual is quick and I've never seen it fail. Toby loves to play fetch. I muzzle Toby whenever he's around new people. It puts the people at ease. Then I throw the ball for Toby and he goes 100% into fetch mode. Of course, he can't fetch with his muzzle on, but he tries his best. I let the new people throw the ball, too. Then I remove the muzzle nd we all toss the ball for him. Toby brings it back until he's worn out, and now he has new friends.
Toby should be an only dog. He strives to be alpha dog whenever he's around other dogs. He's a terror to my dog Jess, and he's lived with Jess for years. Cats? No way would he coexist with a cat.
Toby would make a great companion and protector. He's a lover once he knows somebody. If I lived alone in a rough neighborhood, and I have done exactly that, Toby would be great to have around. I could have the Hope Diamond in my closet and I'd sleep like a baby with Toby under the bed. No prowler would ever creep through the back yard with Toby around.
I'll miss him. He's been a good friend to us over the years. Circumstances prevent his owner from keeping him and she refuses to let me have him because he's so hard on my dog. Help me give him a few more years.
